Through the eighties Hyster continued to concentrate on developing industry leading lift trucks. To plug this gap, a plant in Craigavon, Ireland was opened in 1980. A further expansion in manufacturing capabilities was necessitated by the need in Europe for Internal Combustion Engine Trucks. The XL design philosophy allowed Hyster to offer superior quality at a more reasonable price. Hence, in 1970, the XL design philosophy was born. To keep up with the times Hyster was inclined to concentrate on the evolution of these mass markets. Much of the industry was shifting towards bulk production. In the 1960's Hyster experienced rapid growth. The centre is still one of the world's best testing facilities in the materials handling industry. Later in the decade Hyster opened a research and development centre in Oregon that was focused on enhancing the design and functionality of lift trucks. This pedal was termed the Monotrol pedal, which revolutionized the industry. In 1966, Hyster developed a method for enabling a lift truck to go both forward and backwards using the same pedal. They began constructing container handlers in the United states in 1959 to meet with the ever growing demand for transportation goods. The Netherlands plant was originally designed to produce two products: Hyster 40" and the Karry Kranes.īetween the late 50's through the 60's, Hyster continued to expand into new markets. In 1952, Hyster began its first foray in to the international production market through opening its first plant in the Netherlands. This allowed Hyster to force its costs down and, at the same time, offer a better quality product at industry competitive prices. In 1946, Hyster opened a plant in Danville, Illinois that was completely dedicated to mass producing trucks.

Hyster experienced major innovations through the 1940's and 1960's. The expansion of its products coupled with its want to stay service oriented has allowed Hyster to grow into the international participant it is in our day. Over the last 80 years Hyster has continued to get bigger and grow its product line.

A couple years after the 1st forklift trucks were invented Hyster became synonymous with quality manufacturing. Most of its production was concentrated in the northwest United States and dealt mostly with the timber and logging industry. However, it began as a manufacturer of lifting machinery and winches. Hyster Forklift Parts - Hyster is an industry leader in the materials handling industry that has been in business for over 80 years.
